MORE NEW
CANDIDATES
The Candidates Column grows
in length each week. There are
several new names this week.
Fred A. Rice is out after the re
publican nomination fr county
surveyor. Mr. Rice is com
paratively a new comer with us
but he is an old-timer at the busi
ness. He is an experienced civil
engineer and is well qualified to
discharge the duties of the office to
which he asks your support.
R. A. Ford is a veteran teacher
that asks your support at the pri
maries next April. He is too well
known to need any introduction
from us. With 20 years' exper
ience in the school room, three o
which as principal of the Prineville
public school, he goes before the
voters of the county asking their
support for the office of county
superintendent of schools.
W. R. McFarland is another man
that has spent the best part of his
life in Crook county. He asks his
democratic friends to support him
for the office of county treasurer.
Ralph Sharp, mine host of the
Poindexter Hotel, has caught
the infection and asks the
democratic voters not to overlook
him for the office of justice of the
peace. If elected he promises to
marry the first couple free of
charge, not only that, but he will
add a free supper, bed and break
fast into the bargain. Bro. Ken
nedy will have to put his skates
on if he wants to be in the run
ning. H. F. Jones is a Redmond man
that announces himself as a can
didate for the office of county as-
noted for their modesty and Mr
Jones is no exception. His aspir
ations should meet with the ap
proval of the republican voters.
The many friends of the J. F.
Blanchard have prevailed upon
him to run for county judge in
stead of for county school superin
tendent. Mr. Blanchard has con
sented to make the change and
now asks his friends to rally to
his support. He is a young man
and very popular and will no
doubt attract a large following.
White-Eagles
Married At high noon, on
February 26th, in the parlors of
the Hotel Prineville, Silas White,
and Miss lea Eagles, both of Mad
ras, Oregon. Rev. H. Chas. Duns
more, D. D. pastor of the Presby
terian church, performed the cere
mony in the presence of a few in
timate friends of the bride. The
happy couple left at once for their
home near Madras, where the
groom is engaged in ranching.
Their many friends unite in wish
ing them all joy, happiness and
prosperity.
Free Garden Seeds
We have received from the U.
S. government an assortment of
