At a nutting of the board of
directors of the fair association
Monday it was agreed to allow 25
per cent of the gate receipt logo
into a fund to be used for the rac
ing feature of the fair. This, in
connection with the liberal dona
tions for racing purpose, will in
sure purses that will attract horses
from all parts ot the state. The
fair board will erect and maintain
all netwsary stall on the grounds
(or the accommodation of racing
stock and will assist in the main
tenance of the track.
The pavilion has just been
painted and work will be done on
tho grounds at once for the com
ing fair. The date will be decided
upon as toon as other fairs in ad
joining counties can be heard
from.
Premium lists will lie out in the
early spring and the 1908 fair
should exceed all previous ones.

It is pleasant to be able to re
port that the sick people ate im
proving. Mrs. Bauer is still in a
critical condition however. Her
brother, Mr. Rader, of Wenatchee,
Washington, has arrived and will
remain for a time. The children
are being cared for by the neighbors.
New settler are still coming in i
but your reorter ha failed to
make connection with them this
week.
Everybody in busy clearing now-
a-day so many of us thatwe
shall not specify by name.
Mrs. H. F. Tinsley is down from
Gist for a visit.
. L. Iverson is expected in this
week from White Salmon, Wash.
He has had over two hundred
trees pulled and is having other
clearing done.
MoCaffery's and Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Khret took in the big dance
at Sisters and report a pleasant
time.
Arrangement have Wen made
so that the two entertainments that
were planned for Washington's
birthday will not conflict. The
one at the Pleasant Ridge school
house otherwise known as Forked
Horn has been postponed until the
28th. We at our end of the line
will try to show our appreciation
the proper way.
W. J. Buckley is a Prineville
visitor Unlay and tomorrow.
Mr. Landes was a Culver visitor
last week and Mr. Kendall this
week.
It has Wen suggested that some
of the old settlers might feel
slighted if only the new comers are
mentioned in these columns, so
some time when other news is
scarce we may take time to tell
what has Wcome of all the old
