WILL RACE
FOR $2000
Ever since the Prineville race
meet last fall there has been a
controversy ss to the relative
merits of "Brandy," a racehorse
owned by Meyer & Brown of Pau
lina, and "Patsy Brown," a fleet
footed one owned by T. F, Buch
anan, proprietor of the Hamilton
Stables. Backers of both horses have
got together and a race for a purse
of 12000 is the result. The date is
set for Mar 5. One thousand dol
lars has been posted with Gran
ville Clifton, of the firm of Clifton
& Cornett, and the balance of the
purse must be put up on or before
the day of the race. The horses
are to run a quarter of a mile.

GOING INTO THE
SHEEP BUSINESS
Charles W. Colby, James Cram
and Harold Baldwin have formed
a company which is incorporated
under the name of the Diamond
"C" Wool Company. It is in in
corporated for $35,000. The pur
pose of the company, as set forth
in it articles of incorporation, is
sheep raising. The company owns
over 2000 acres of land and some
4000 head of fine-bred sheep. The
company starts out" with every
promise of success.
Colbv has heeu in the sheep
business for a num'x'r of ytr in
the Crooked river country ami has
acquired considerable land about
fifteen miles south of Prineville,
some of which is irrigated from
Crooked river.
Cram has long been in the cat
tle business in the same vicinity
and likewise controls a consider
able quantity of valuable lands
which are well adapted for sheep
graiing.
Baldwin is assistant cashier at
the First National Bank of Prine
ville and is a thorough-going
young business man.
We have one grain drill snd a
few tdows left which we will sell at
a bargain or will trade for grain
