F. Decker who claimed that the purse waa taken from hia houe. The case waa called before Justice Luckey Haturday and after lengthy ex animation Arnwine waa discharged i.i . . . ... . anu me cow or ine sun laxeu up against Decker. It appears that Arnwine had been herding sheep for the plaintiff, who live on the McKay, and that the action grew out of hasty conclusions made by Decker. FAIR ASSOCIATION MEETING The annual meeting of the Cen tral Oregon Livestock & Agricul tural Association waa held Mori day at the court hoom. The affairs of the association were gone over and found to be in first-class shape. Financially, the fair association is stronger than ever. - Una is the first vear that the fulr start out with a surplus Now that the incubus of a defi cit ia removed the members eeeru to take on new life. Varioua improvement) are planned for thia year. Both premium list and fair grounds will receive attention at the hands of the officiant. There is some de linquent stock in the association -be advertised for sole at an early date and any unpaid will be sold and the proceeds used on im provements. Another matter that received the attention of tho stockholders waa the data on which to hold the fair. Borne thought that the fair was held too late in the fall while others urged the importance of fixing a date that would best auit both the agricultural and stock interests. It waa decided by the meeting that the fair should not be held later than October 13th. INSTALLATION CERFMONIES The Odd Fellow and allied or ganizatioua bad a jolly time at the triple installation services last Haturday evening. A ban quet followed tho installations. The ItclM-cca drill team waa corn plimented for its efficiency. It put on the Rebecca letter "K" and the emblem of their brother lodge the "I. 0. 0. F. Many of thoe present, and there were some 200 people, did not understand the object of the' work. Those who were "next" thought the ladies did splendidly. The Re becca installed the following officers for the ensuing year: Mr. McDowell, Noble Grand; Mrs. McLaughlin,- Vice Grand; Stella Hodges, secretary; Mrs. T. II. Lafollette, Treasurer; Mrs. Cyrus, Warden; Mr. Clifton, Conductor; and Mrs. Thompson, chaplain. The Encampment installed the following: T, II. Lafollette, C. 8.; W.Hpear, H. P.; Guy Lafollette, 8. Moore, a capitalist of Portland, has leased 5M500 acres of road land in Crook county for the purpose of 0erating a horae ranch. Mr. Moore is a fancier of blooded atock and will confine himself exclusively to that, branch of the buaine. He has a fast one now on the Vancouver track and it ia believed that the salubrious cli mate of Central Oregon will enable Mr. Moore to produce some world beaters. The Ocboconian so ciety will uphold the affirmative the Alpha society the negative. The debate will probably occur on Friday, February 14.
