Kinder brought to this oflice Sat urday the daddy of the patch. Its a whopper. It tipped the scales at 25 pounds and measured 40 inches in circumference. It was grown in hi garden in the north part of town. Regular services will be held at the First Presbyterian church next Sunday, morning and evening, with meeting of the Christian En deavor society at 6:45. At the evening service, Dr. Dunsmcre will deliver the fifth of the Beries of character sketches, the subject being, "Absalom, The Fast Young Man." The male quartette will sing as usual at the evening ser vice. The public are cordially in vited to all these services. L. B. Lafollette bought J. W. Collin's interests in the lafollette & Collins ranch five miles west of town the first of this week. The place consists of 200 acres of Iwttom lands almost all of which is seeded to alfalfa. Mr. Lafollette has bought the lease owned by George Hacker and will move onto the place and improve it at once. The deal included about forty head of hogs, horses and farming implements. Debaters will be chosen for the inter-society contest in January and the content with The Dalle at some later date. The state debating library has been re ceived from Salem and the boys are getting busy. o The November term of the county court has not yet been held owing to the legal holidjjr procla mations of the governor. The court will meet on the first day after the suspension of the legal holidays. When that will be nobody but the governor seems to know and perhaps he doesn't. It will be determined by financial condition solely. Z. T. Gideon wa in the city the lust of the week from his ranch at Powell Butte. Mr. Gideon says that everyone is busy digging potatoes in that vicinity. The yield is exceptionally good. The Burbank ia the favorite spud in the Powell Butte country, a it produces an excellent marketable potato and a good yield. Rev. J. T. Graves returned Saturday from the Goose Lake reserve opening where he has been with a party of peoplo to locate on timber lands. Mr. Graves says that there were four or five people for every piece of ground and the home steader wa the only man who had any chance of getting land. He says that every 160 acres has from two to six homesteaders cabinB on it. The Second Annual Convention of the Crook County Sunday School Association will be held in Prineville Kov. 22-24 and the President requests that every Sun day School in the county send at least one delegate to the conven tion.
