Blanchard of Madraa is spending a few days at the Normal Institute. In speaking of the work done there Mr. Blanchard Bays that it will compare favorably with that of any of the summer normals that arc being held throughout the state, and thinks it will be of great value to the teacher in school work. Mr. Blanchard has a state certificate and hence it is not necessary for him to take the work. It might be mentioned in passing that the young man is regarded by our school authorities as a top notcher in his profession. His school work speaks for itself. Mr. Stark is an old Oregonian. He has hotel property at Independence and has been many times Mayor of that city. He has always been identified with the progressive element of that city and stood for everything that meant growth and progress. He waa the proprietor of the Giser Grand at Baker City for thirteen months and sold out bis holdings last April at a hand some profit. We trust that .Mr. Stark will conclude to locate per manently in Prineville.
