A pretty wedding waiaolemnized
at the residence of Mra. uttie Mil-
fir Thursday evening, January 10,
when Guy Hitler and Dora Crain
were made man and wife. Judge
W. A. 1111 performed the cere
mony. Only a few relatives and
friend were present. A number
of useful and pretty preaenta were
received.

T. W. Zimmerman, the popular
young manager of the Oateweod
Mining & Trading Co.' store at
Howard, waa married at Portland

and the paator, followed by the
groomsman and groom, entered the
parlor and took their place in the
archway. Later the bride, preced
ed by Mra. Cowan, alowly entered
by another route, and the beauti
ful rim service of the Christian
church a performed by Rev. J
T. Gbormley, Misa Williams' form
er paator.
Mia William, a brunette, was
lovely in crenm silk voile, trimmed
in lace and silk applique, and car
ried a shower boquet of bride roses
with tulle and white satin stream
ers. The matron of honor wore
cream lanadowne. trimmed with
lace. Miss William and Mr. Zim
merman are well known in the
city in musical circle both having
lived here previously. Mr. Zim
merman waa a member of a glee
club, conducted by Professor
Wider. The bride has taken part
in many prominent musical event,
and waa aolo soprano of the bun
nyside M. K. church for two years
Mr. and Mra, Zimmerman will re'
main in the city at the Hotel Ore
eon until alter the Schumann
Heink concert, then they will visit
relativea in Albany and later go to

Bevert Debing, one of Bend's
popular vendere of wet goods, was
in town last week making proof on
his timber and stone claim. Mr.
Debing reports times in Bend at
present to be rsther dull, but thst
the business men had enjoyed a
very prosperous trade during the
fall and holidays.

Henry Cadle was in from hia
ranch at Mill creek Saturday. He
report cattle in that vicinity to be
standing the winter in fairly good
ahape.
R. V. Jenkins ot Madras, and J.
W. Jenkins ot Lanionta, were in
town Saturday laying in a load o!
supplies for the winter. They re
port that they are having plenty
of winter in their respective seo
tiona but that it insures them of
plenty ot moisture tor the next
year's crop and they are according
ly satisfied with present conditions.
J. B. and Guy Claypool of Sis
ter, were in town Tuesday. Guy
was proving up on his timber
claim.
Mr. Hill of Prineville, arrived on
the stage Thursday evening. He
is interested in the Dixie Meadows
mine. Prairie City Miner.
Henry Ireland, deputy forest
ranger, has been transferred te the
eastern division of the Blue Moun
tain forest reserve. His headquar
ters will be at Sumpter. Mr. Ire
land left Tuesday for his new poet.
A. S. Ireland, the foreBt supervis
or, is left all alone to take care of
the western division of the Blue
Mountains and the Maury Moun
tains. He regrets the departure of
his deputy but is glad that he re
ceived the appointment at it is in
the nature of a promotion

Mr. Jonh Trisler baa bought the
Ward forty and eipecU to have in
fifteen acree or more of crop this
year.;
Work will probably t begun
again soon on the well. Mr. Row
lee is down from Bend, and Mr.
M uma was expected to bring in
casing from tihsniko on thU trip.
Mr. and Mr. O'Connor are back
from their Portland trip. While
he was gone lbs Portland papers
took occssion to ssy some nice
things about Vic, all of which were
well deserved.
McLallin'a camp from south ot
Powell Buttes baa broken up and
moved back to Redmond. Borne
ot the men we understand will try
the government irrigation project
work at Umatilla.
The new stage line ia now in
operation and the stages are said
to be models. We wish the new
company success. Eleven passen
gers for the first stage was not so
bad.
The D. I. & P. Company has
been given authority to raise the
price of the land which they still
hold. The new price is one hun
dred dollars for a forty acre tract
dIus fifteen dollars for each iin
gable acre. Tbia makes tbe price
of the best forties seven hundred
dollars or a raise of a hundred and
ten dollars.
The Saturday night meeting of
the Settlers' Association was suc
cessful and well attended both by
regular members and others. We
had short talks by G. Springer of
Culver, Max Lueddemau of Mad
raa. Kirk Whited of Laidlaw and
others. We enjoy having out
aiders meet with us, and hope tbe
Journal will be with us some of
these days.
All those who are interested in
