Many are the expressions of regret
on the part of the ladles of Prluevllle
that the present chilly weather has
put a stop to bathing In the mill race.
All summer long the merry laughter
of bathers on the Summers' place In
the south part of town could lie
heard. The Innocent cause of much
of the fun was a common-place look
lug board used by the ladies In learn
ing to swim. If the pesky thing
would stay placed everything went
well with the fair swimmer, but no,
It wouldu't keep its place when the
fair charmer would strike out aud
churn the waters of the creek with
legs and arms, The board would
skedoo and the lady go to the bottom.

Spontaneous combustion has caus
ed the loss of four stacks of hay In
the Crms Keays country this season.
The hay was put up either too green
or too wet and hence fermentation
was too rapid. This Is the theory
advanced by peopl living in the
neighborhood for the destruction of
the hay.

The occupants of the in-coming
stage from Shnuiko Sunday morn
ing had quite a thrilling time of it.
Iu coming down the heavy grade
this side of Heisler's the brake gave
way and the heavy coach ran onto
the wheel-horses. This started them
running and down the hill they came
at a lively clip. There Is a sharp
turn on the long grade and the driv
er foreseeing trouble ahead If he at
tempted to make it at the speed he
was going pulled out of the road to
avoid the sharp angle. He ran Into
a gully which effectually put a stop
to the wild ride. There were quite a
number of ladies aboard and all i
caped injury but Mrs. Cyrus, who, In
Jumping from the coach on the side
hill, sprained her ankle. She is able
to be aronnd with the aid of
crutches.
