It Is exjHH'ted that tin grade for the entire line will be completed Into Hend within the coming three weeks. ThlH news was brought by contractor Archie Mason who was In Hend the first part of the week. That, however, does not mean that nuto cars will liegln running Immediately. The road-tniu'blne work will lie done but there will remain the construction of culverts and bridges and rolling- the road bed, and the rolling cannot be done before the culverts anil brldgvs are finished. Silver Lake Oregonlan. Harney Cattlemen Will Pool Stock. Cattle growers of Harney county have Is'gim to think seriously of the fact that there Is an evident trust omblnntlon of thecnttlebuyers that visit that section of thestate. Many of the different buyers have written to different growers as to the con dition of thestiM'k and the probable price that will ts asked, but It Is a significant fact that there Is never more than one buyer actually on the ground nt one time, and lie Is of ourse very choice In his selections and luileiH-iident lis to prices offered. The apparent combination of the buyers has led the growVrs to talk of pooling their stock ami sending out for buyers to come In and bid on the whole lot or any part of It. The pooling of the wool dip by sheepmen In different. parts of the west has proved eminently satis factory, and the cattlemen are think ing strongly of following that plan There has been only a few small sales of cattle In that section In the past two years. The going; price at present is $1:1 for yenrllngx, for two-year-olds and 2tl (or threes. These prices the growers of Harney county consider ridiculously low when the fact Is considered that lieef Is still as high ns ever. Last Games of Ball. The Haystack baseball team will arrive In the city either tomorrow or Saturday morning ready for the last contest on the diamond for this year. It Is not definitely decided ns yet whet her one or two games will be played with the visiting team, but It Is probable that one game will lie played Snturday afternoon and another on Sunday afternoon. An admission of 25 cents will becdnrged, Inclusive of reserved seats. The local team has made a credit able record for Itself during- the past season and confidence Is expressed that the games this week will add more victories to the list already long. Out of 10 games, six of which have been played on (orelgn grounds, the Prlnevllle team has won seven; two from Hend, one from Haystack; three from Antelope and one from Fossil, and tied another game with Antelope. The games the last of this week will Is? good lively contests and some Interesting sport promised. The locals in a friendly way have it In for pitcher Lnrsen, who so far both this year and last has made them look a trifle silly but the Athletics figure now that they will thorough ly and satisfactorily solve his curves.
