News comes from Grants l'ass that Carnegie has promised that place loOOO for a public library, provided that f'OO he supplied an nually for its maintenance. , The latter amount has been raised and a committee of business men have the matter well in hand. A pub lic library is indeed a medium of much good, and no town makes . mistake in providing one for the use of its inhabitants. The Journal is. the recipient of many congratulations upon its character as a country weekly and the praise conies from people who know what constitutes a good read able paper. We are glad to know that our paper pleases, and take the fact that bo names have been added to our list in the last two months as an index from which to judge. This counts a good deal we believe, as the additions have been made during a prize contest by our opposition. The prize, a piano, carries considerable value itself, and when good substantial people pass it by and come in and subscribe for our sheet it takes the form of encouragement to us and makes us try for a better paper. In the future as in the past, the Journal will le found standing loyally for Prineville and Crook County's interests, and in so doing we do not mean to slight one 'per son but we do mean to accord fair treatment to evervindividual. t'rock' Taipayer Following is a list of Crook t '.unity's lieavit-et tuxpayers.anil the amounts paid ly them into the shorill's office. Perry, Editor of the F.iiterprise, SJioi tsville, X, Y. ''This is the honest truth. 1 at times kept fiom coughing myself to pieces by taking a teaspoon fid of this remedy, and when the coughing spell would come on at night f would take a dose and it seem ed that in the briefest interval the cough would pass off and I would go to sleep perfectly free from cough and its accompanying pains. To say that the remedy acted as a most agreeable surprise is putting it veiy mildly. I br,d no idea that it would or could knock out the grip, Simply because I had never tried it for such A pur pose, but it did, and it seemed with the second attack of coughing the remedy earned it to not only be of less duration, but the pain i were far less severe, and I had not used the con tents of one bottle before Mr. (irip had bi I me adieu.
