rapid recovery.
The pupils of the VI and VII
grades had an old (ashlo;ied spell
ing match Friday afternoon. The
two grades spelled against each
other. Dolly Hodges, of the VI
grade was the last one to leave the
floor and Ilertbu Elkins was next
to the lust.
Last Monday, January 12, it be
came necessary to stop the school
fur at least a week, on the accoufit
of tho scarlet fever. Every one
should take advantage of this va
cation and study in order to catch
up in the study that he or she is
l.heliind in. There are several pu
pils in tlici different grades thut
new! this extra study and they can
not do better than Siend their time
this way.

Young but' ambitious justice of
the peace in one of South , Idaho's
rural precincts was suddenly call
ed utHiu to marry a couple when
he was called away from his office
and without book prompting. He
had studied the statutory forms,
however, and decided to risk the
ceremony.
John Jones' and Eliza Cook were
the applicants, and, after directing
them to "toe the mark," the squire
said:
'Mr. Jones, rceat your name,
age, residence, occupation, and
date of naturalization, if any.
You do solemnly swear, or aflirm,
as the case may lie, that you are a
free, white and male citizen of the
United States, or will be on the 6th
ol November next. That, to the
best ol your knowledge and belief
you are not a biga that is to say
a marriage free trader; and that
you never will be if in your power
to prevent it. That in the case
now pending, wherein you are
plaintiff and Eliza Cook defend
ant, you will tell the truth, the
whole truth, except as to matters
a'.ated on information and belief,
so help you God."
Turning to Eliza the judge said:
''You do solemnly swear that you
will answer such questions as are
put to you regarding your qualifi
cations to to become the wife of
John Jones; That you know
Jones to be the. identical person
who now confronts you. That
you have had full and complete
satisfaction, of said Jones, of all
just demands, the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged and the
grantor forever released therefrom.
That you do this freely and volun
tarily and separate and apart Irom

annual meeting ol said Association
will be held at the court house in

It is ol the utmost importance
that all the wonibers be present,
and that a thorough Interest be
taken, by all the members, in the
affairs of the Association.
If, for any causo, you are unable
to attend, please see that you are
represonteJ by proxy, in writing,
and give to your representative
your suggestions upon any impor
tant matter that you think ought
to come belore the meeting.
The following clause is quoted
from the By-laws, lor your inform
ation: "All annual dues shall be
paid to the secretary on or before
the day proceeding the annual
meeting. No member shall be en
titled to vote at any annual meet
ing unless his dues shall be fully
paid."
If you are in arrears in your
membership fee or annual due,
please comply with the above.

Your attention is called to the
monthly lighting rates, which will
be found in the last part of Section
10, Ordinance 122, which reads as
ollows :
Evening until 10 p. n, .05 per
candle power ; evening until mid
night, .06 per candle power. All
night lights .08 per candle power.
Residences, churches and halls
special rates. Residences were
given a .04 rate for this reason.

in no case to burn lights all night
in unoccupied rooms.
Beginning November 1st, 1902,
we will charge an .08 rate on all
night lights unless permission has

We positively will not furnish

fraud is found to exist service will
