Pullman Ordinary Sleepert.
The tourist travel between the eaat and
the Pacific coast haa readied enormous
proportion! in the last few years, aud
calls for a special clasi of equipment. To
meet this demand the Pullman Co. haa
issued from its shops what it technically
calls tlie "Pullman. Ordinary Sleeper."
These cars appear similar to tl-.'o regular
sleeper, being built on the same plan,
but nut furnished with the same elegance
They are equipped with mat I resses,
blankets, sheets, pillows, , pillow-cases,
towels, comb', brashes, etc., requiring
nothmcof tho Ii iiid to be furnished by
the passenger. Each car has a stove for
inakiu" coffee and tea and doing "light
liousekeepinj!, ' and each section can be
titled with an adjustable table. A uni
formed porter aceompaniea each car. his
business being lo make up berths, keep
the car clean, ana look after the comforts
and wants cf the passengers. In each of
the trains which are dispalched daily
from Portland by the 0. R. & N. Ce. ia
to be found one of these "Pullman Or
dinary Sleepers." The car is attached
to the ''Chicago Portland Special,
which goes through to Chicago without
change, and the one in the "Atlantic Ex
press" runs to Kansas City without
change. Passengers in this car for Chi
csgo i haniie to a similar car at (inaiiger.
Much of the first class travel is being
! carried in these cars, tne rates being
lower, and the service being nearly equal
to that in the palace sleepers.
