prietor of the Silver Lake stage line,
is in the city taking in the fair and
looking after business connected with
his stage liitf.
H. U. Kibbee, the washing machine
man, is in the city looking after mat
ters connected wilh hi business. He
reports increasing sales through his
territory. '
J. S. McMeen was seen at the fair
grounds Friday enjoying the sights.;
Mr McMeen is one of the prominent
farmers and stock raisers intlie La
inonta country.
J. J. Collins, of the firm of Dorgan
and Co., is up frum Albany looking
after business natters connected with
the company's timber interest in this
county.
Walter Mee was down from Howard
the latter part of the week taking in
the fair, and incidentally getting his
valise that was advertised as found in
a lecent issue of ilie Joi'KNAl..
, F. M. Brown, whose wife is a niece
of Mrs. W. H. Parker, passed through
here enroute to Spokane from Gazell,
California. He will go by way of
the John Day and Pendleton.

Friday was an exciting day for at
least one man at the meet. He bought
first choice in one pool aud then for
fear he would lose bought the field.
That was a safe proposition and a

premium anywhere in the world, color,

We are informed that Bishop Wells
and Rev. A.. E. Lake, of the Episcopal
church, will hold a series of meetings
here, begining November' 2nd. Ever

W. C. Coligeltoh was down from his
stock ranch on Beaver creek to take
in the fair, and the way he was doing
the truck act at Wurzweiler 4 Tbom
son's, would have put to.shame a vet
eran longshoreman. "Billy's" trip to
Kentucky was a great help to him.

A. D. Smith, head reuchinist of the
A. T. F. Co., of Portland, left for home
on Friday's stage. He has been here
the past week getting the Journal's
new press in position and starting it
up. This press is the equal of any
country press in the state, and is far
ahead of anything usually found in
towns of the size of Prineville.
While in conversation with Dr. W.
W. Taggart at the Poindexter Hotel,
he expressed himself as being much
suprieed at the fine showing of fruits,
vegetables and livestock at the fair.
