When death came, it developed

Afwiimina lessoiia to be learned
outside of school hours may give
parents a favorable impression of
the school, but such work is
usually productive of more evil
than iriwd. Your pupils do not
know how to Study hy themselves
and their work is usually done lor
them bv others. Jiesides, if the
tuacher'reioires proper application
on the pail of the pupil during the
regular school hours, this is as
much as the child's mind should
be lazed. Kd uea tor.
The twittcst need of manual
training is not in expensive shops
at public expctis, but in the home.
There arc thousands of patient,
toiling fathers and mothers whost
mistaken kindness permit child
ren to mow up without doin;? any
thing for their parents. The hoys
never carry coal or witter, the girls
know nothing of needle or broom.
They grow up "unthankful and
unholy" Wause in their selfish in
dulgence they have lived "without
natural ufjection." The Ohio
Tcacher-
Nellie Summers gave a birthday
party at her home, hist Wednesday
which was enjoyed very much.
During the evening refreshment
wer.e served on shingles by the
waiters, Nellie Hummers, Verna

'allowing were present: Heuluh

Po few parents remember that,
though they have only two or three
children and have studied their
dispositions from the time of birth,
know all of their inherited
tendencies:, all their little oddities
and contradiction, they make mis
take after mistake in their
management; while the teacher
has all the way from thirty to
ninety, no two alike, from difier
ent homes, having different in
fluences, different surroundings,
different standards of right and
wrong, and she has known , them
at best only a few short weeks,
having to study them all a once
instead of singly. Knowing this,
the parent should make allow
ances, and try to help rather than
hinder the teacher. Mothers in
particular should be interef-led in
what til children are doing: above
all they should visit the school.
