Mining Laws Need Ilov talon.
Speaking of tho vast number of
mining claims being located these
days, and the great amount of
money being expended in develop
ment work on mine in this Btnte,
a mining man said yesterday that
(lie mining laws of Oregon were
much in need of amending, being
away behind the times. As litiga
tion is constantly springing up
over mining properties, he snvs
this nutter should be looked after
by the next Legislature. County
Recorders Bhould refuse to record
notices of mining locations unless!
the same give an accurate and J
complete description of the claim
to bo located, which should be de
nned by monuments, so that the
location cannot be shifted to suit
the convenience of the locator, us
is sometimes done, thereby enuring
a great deal of trouble and litiga
tion. When a man lias located a
claim, and another has located an
adjoining claim, and one or the
other of them shifts his stukes in
order to follow a ludc, ' there is
bound to be trouble. Oregoninn.
