A number of the pupils spent the past week at their country homes. ' We expect to prepare a special program for Washington's birth' day. There being no school during the past week we are short of local school news. Dr. Gunsaulus says: "The great est thing that a school can ui for a man is to teach him to think." Bupt. Boegli informs us that he expects to hold a local teachers' in' stitute about the last of February It is hoped that when school be gins, there will be a full attendance The success of the school during the coining months depends on good attendance. The clerk of this district has posted notices calling a meeting of the voters of this dristrict for the purpose of voting a tax to pay in lereht on the bondt'd debt, and also for general school purposes. We find, in reading the biogra phies of successful men, that much of the inspiration that spurred them on to success was, with ma of them, received from some good literature read in youth or early manhood.
