Blaytou, wan born in Mississippi, July 22, 1841. Died at Lebanon, Oregon, October 31, 1901, aged CO years, 3 month and 9 days. Mrt. Slayton moved with her widowed mother to Oregon in 1853. She wan married to S. R. Slayton 1 July 1, 1858, in Green valley, Douglas county, Oregon. They removed to Polk county in 1882, and then to Crook county in 18(i9. She was the mother of seven children four of whom are living: E. T. Slayton, of Princville; G. W. ) Slayton, of Cottonwood, Idaho, Mrs. T. A. U'Ren, of Johannes burg, South Africa, and Mis. 8. M Engs, of Chicago, Illinois. She was greatly respected by all her friends and acquaintances, and during her residence of 32 years amongonr people made many firm and lasting friends who today mourn her Ions.
