J. W. Hopkins left for Salem Tnes-1
day. He is not going to enter the i
Asylum but expects to get a legisla-
tive clerkship. His ways are so win- i
ning and seductive that he ought to i
succeed a readily as one' of the geutl
er sex.
The Review could not forbear an in
tended slap at our Annual by saying
it was printed by the Union Printing
Co. of Portland. So it was, becaUM!
there is not a p-inting establishment
in the state outside of Portland, that
can turn out such neat work, not even
the Beview. We are requested to
thank the Beview for its free advertis
ing of the Poitland printers.
The Pilot Butte Development Com

As usual old Boreas has touched
this section f Oregon very lightly, the
greatest depth of snow reported except
in the mountains being about 12
inches while the temperature has
gone down only to 6 above zero. The
snow fall appears to have been lighter
in the Southeastern portion of the
county than here where it is less than
six inches.
The "Creamerie" Restaurant in Port
laud, Oregon, on Washington street be-
twenu Third and Fourth streets is one of
the most popular lunch housos in that
city, deservedly enjoying agood trade
m account of the excellent quality of
food served, quick and courteous service
and reasonable prices. Visitors in Port-
laud should not fail to take their meals
at ihe "Creamerie."
Typographical errors are found in
the best of publications and our An

though most of them are unimportant.
We wish to sav, hbwever, that the
article descriptive of the Three Sisters
Irrigation Co. was not written by Mr.
Brink as was intended, but bv the
editor of the Jovksal, and is not as
their honeymoon. They were mar
ried in that city about Xmas but not
having received a wedding notice we
are unable to state the exact date. It
will make but little difference to
"Dick" though for he is the happiest
nan n Oregon now.
Mr. Cy. Mulkey, recently of Alaska,
left here Tuesday morning with 23
head of horses for the Seattle market,
accompanied by Joe Hinkle. He pur
chased nothing but weli-broke, heavy
horses, paying from $G0 to $100 each
for them. M Mulkey is a familiar
character on the Pacific coast, having
come west during the early 50's, and
being engaged in mining in all the
principal camps since then, . making
and losing fortunes frequently. He
has also been prominent in sporting
circles, having owned and run many
of the fastest horses of his time, among
them being Tim Murphy, Sinfax and j
other equally celebrated ones. He has
during the past two years spent
25,
was
000 orospecting in Alaska and
finally rewarded by securing some
very rich claims about 12 miles from
Some. He will return there in the
Spring and work them, being now en
gaged iu buying horses as a pastime.
