T he case grew out of a real estate tran sactio n by th e W ork­ ers E ducational association, w hich p lanned to build a m odel home on O ’C onnor D rive here to be raffled off to p rovide funds for th e organization. The pro p erty w as found to be covered by an a n ti-jew ish restric tiv e covenant w hich stip u lated th a t th e land “w as not to be sold to Je w s or persons of objectionable n a tio n ­ a lity .” C ourt action w as bro u g h t about by th e C anadian Je w ish congress, rep resen ted by A tty. Survey Shows Atlanta in Lead A TLA NTA — (A N P)— Dr. J o s ­ eph Pierce, research director for th e c u rre n t study of N egro B usi­ ness education, addressing the tla n ta B usiness association last w eek, revealed th a t G eorgia’s G ate C ity leads the nation in the n u m b er of N egro businesses. O f the 3,866 businesses studied in 12 pivotal cities scattered tth ro u g h o u t th e nation, Dr. Pierce declared th a t A tlan ta N egroes o p erate 843 businesses, th e h ig h ­ est n u m b er of any city studied, w ith W ashington, D. C., follow ­ ing w ith 694 businesses. T he m ost fre q u e n t businesses am ong N egroes a re re stau ran ts and b eau ty shops. Dr. P ierce said.
