R epresenting the u ltim a te in p réfabrication so far attain ed , the TVA type houses a re m an u ­ factured in thrree-dim ension sec­ tions 20 or 24 fee t long, 8 feet high and 8 feel w ide so th ey m ay be transported over highw ays. Inside and out the stru c tu re s are of plywood w ith outer w alls painted and interiors finished w ith light stains. A t th e facto ry most fu rn itu re is built in and plum bing and light fix tu res in ­ stalled. Only 5 to 10 per cent of the total w ork of constructing th e fully furnished hom e rem ains to be done in the field, principally the placing of sections on founda­ tions and joining the units. Two sections form a one-bedroom home, three sections a tw o -b ed ­ room stru ctu re and four sections a three-bedroom home.
