JL / PORTLAND INQUIRER Monarchs Top Tigers Twice The classy Oakland Monarchs made it four in a row over the Portland Colored Tigers by winning a holiday double- header, 14-to-10 and 4-to-0, Wednesday afternoon at Vaughn street park. The California Negro nine had to come from behind to win the free-hitting opener, which went 10 innings. In the nightcap Peewee Mays stopped the Tigers with a single scratch single. Manager Frank Evans has agreed to keep the Monarchs in Portland for a Saturday night date at Vaughn street with the undefeated McElroy Dancers of the strong City league.
