NEGRO B U Y S
FIR ST BOND
WASHINGTON, D. C., Nov. 21.
Price Collins, 55, Negro janitor, of
ficially opened the Sixth War Loan
in Milwaukee by purchasing the
first bond sold at campaign head
quarters— one o f $1,000 denomina
tion.
Collins is proud of his record of
having bought the first bond in
the last four campaigns. He bought
his first bond soon after Pearl Har
bor.
When he arrived at headquarters,
Collins brought along a sheaf of
bonds— 63 o f them aggregating
$12,000—just to prove to War Bond
officials that “ I’m not only buying
’em—but I’m hanging onto ’em.’’
