Not a man in the County of Multnomah has been quite as badly maligned as this servant of the public. The untruths that have been told about him gave him no con­ cern mainly because he has not heard about them. In our policy of life of the Negro in this area, we looked up Mr. Wells and after a nice homey patently Western chat, we started asking him a few ques­ tions.
