McNary track and field competes
at 28-team Wilsonville Invitational

McNary track and field was back in action Saturday at Wilsonville High School
alongside 27 other schools for the Wilsonville Invitational, but the results were more
of the same for the struggling Celtics.
On the mens side, the host Wildcats dominated with a team score of 128.5, nearly
60 more than the second place Rams of Central Catholic. The Celtics’ 16 was part of
a three-way tie for 13th.
The womens team were in a five-way tie for 20th with 4 points.
Individually, Celtics had six top-seven finishes on Saturday.
The highest was the fourth place finish in the mens 4X400 relay. The team of Caleb
McCoy, Benjamin Standley, Pawat Potisuk and Benjamin Sheets came in with a time
of 3 minutes, 33.97 seconds.
Standley had two other good showings, in the 800 and 1500-meters where he placed
fifth and sixth respectively. Standley’s 2 minutes, 1.11 seconds in the 800-meters was
a season best for him.

Rounding out the mens top finishes with a pair of sevenths were Potisuk in the
400-meters with a personal record time of 53.18 seconds, and Tyler Copeland in the
long jump, leaping 19 feet, 11.5 inches.
For the women, Maile Salang finished fifth in the discus with a distance of 102 feet,
1 inch.
It may not show in the overall results, but Celtic athletes have continued to improve
through the season, setting eight personal records on Saturday.
Joining Potisuk on the mens side setting personal records were Copeland in the
100-meters (11.61 seconds) and Connor Roop in the 1500-meters (4 minutes, 33.25
seconds).
Four Lady Celtics set personal records.
Jetta Mowrey did so in both the 100m hurdles (19.14 seconds) and the 300m hur-
dles (1 minute, 3.53 seconds). Andrea Maciel Rodriguez also set a personal best in the
300m hurdles at 1:02.18.
In the 100-meters, Kiana Olivo’s 14 seconds was a personal best. Anna Sponable
also set a personal best in the javelin with a distance of 81 feet, 1 inch.
