Photo by CHARLES GLENN of Keizertimes BY CHARLES GLENN Of the Keizertimes Keizer Public Works department is installing new water lines in residen- tial neighborhoods. For the next two months, residents of Joan Dr., Chehalis Dr., Newberg Dr. and Orchard St. may experience commuting delays as a result of the construction. The city has con- tracted with Trench Line Excavation for some of the work, while city workers han- dle the line installation. According to the Keizer's Water Master Plan, the city's average daily water demand is expected to rise to 5.3 million gallons per day by 2023, from it's current level of 3.5 million per day. The city currently derives all its water from groundwater sources including wells that tap into the Wilamette Silts and the Troutdale Aquifer. Due to this, recent modifications to the federal Safe Drinking Water Act will have little to no impact on Keizer. TANYA HAMILTON Where and how do you volunteer?
