BottleDrop, operated by the Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative (OBRC) will engage its emergency fund to sup- port the project. There are more 800,000 Green Bag account holders in the state. BottleDrop account holders can visit BottleDropCenters.com/Ukraine, log into their account and direct their dona- tions to Mercy Corps. Mercy Corps, based in Portland, is a global response and humanitarian orga- nization with operations in more than 40 countries around the world. It it helping people in Ukraine, Poland and Romania who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. OBRC will make a matching $25,000 donation from the emergency fund. The public can redeem their 10-cent redeemable bottles and cans at BottleDrop and let the staff there know they would like to donate them to Mercy Corps. The BottleDrop location nearest to Keizer is located at 1880 Commercial Street NE in Salem. The facility closes at 6 p.m. each day. of the Week presented by KAA sponsors student mural competition The Keizer Art Association, Valor Mentoring and The Rec are jointly spon- soring a contest to choose a student art- ist to paint a mural on a wall in The Rec’s meeting room. The meeting space is being renamed The Lebold Room, in honor of Don and Ann Lebold, former owners of Town and Country Lanes (The Rec). The mural will measure three feet tall by 11 feet long. The design and color of contest entries is up to the student art- ist but it must include the words Lebold Room. Intake of contest entries designs is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the art association’s Enid Joy Mount Gallery at the Keizer Cultural Center, 980 Chemawa Road NE. The winning design will be announced at a reception on Saturday, April 30, between 2 and 4 p.m. The winning artist will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Valor Mentoring and The Rec. Free exams, vaccines for felines March 27 Free physical exams and free Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVRCP) vaccines for cats will be available on Sunday, March 27th from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 4122 River Road (next to the Keizer Chamber). The event is hosted by Salem Friends of Felines in partner- ship with the Petco Love Foundation and VCA Keizer. Rabies vaccines will be available for $5. Donations are also accepted. Any healthy cat (eight weeks or older) brought in with a secure carrier will be treated. Unhealthy cats will not + be able to be vaccinated and will be referred to a local urgent care facility. Music Box Angels plans banquet in April Music Box Angels will hold Sounds of Hope, its first dessert ban- quet on Saturday, April 30, at Salem Evangelical Church. The organization provides music boxes free of charge to those who want to bless someone who is hurt- ing. To ensure an adequate supply of music boxes, Music Box Angels is seeking annual gifts. Music Box Angels was founded in 2017 by Faye Kercher to be a vehi- cle and a source of hope for hurting people. “As you know, vast numbers of people are experiencing deep sor- row. Some have totally lost hope. Our mission is to share the good news of Jesus Christ so that even during suffering people may experience renewed strength of this life,” said Kercher.
