Meithof named GSAC Freshman of the Year
Former McNary shooting guard Nate
Meithof was named the Golden State
Athletic Conference Freshman of the
Year after leading Westmont College to a
15-13 record this season.
Meithof led the conference in scoring,
averaging 18.5 points per game.
He is the fi rst Westmont player to
receive the award, and the fi rst Warriors
player in over a decade to lead the league
in scoring.
Meithof scored at least 20 points on
three separate occasions, with his season
high of 30 points coming against Arizona
Christian on Jan. 22. He led the club in
3-pointers (47 and was third on the team
in assists (63).
He also was second on the team in
steals (37) and third on the squad in
blocked shots (7).
"The exciting part of all this is that
Nate is just a freshman," said Westmont
head coach Landon Boucher. "His upside
has always been high, but his desire to
keep getting better is what sets him apart.
"He's spent countless hours in the
gym with Coach Erickson doing individ-
ual workouts. He's always watching his
fi lm after the game. He has a deep desire
to be the best he can be."
