Rosalie Louise Weathers
October 18, 1938 – January 29, 2022
Rosalie Weathers was born in Portland, to
Raymond and Catherine Kerr, the youngest
of their three children. While she was in
grade school the family moved to Salem,
where she attended Sacred Heart Academy.
After graduating high school, she advanced
her studies at Marylhurst College.
Rosalie married her lifelong love, Donald
C. Weathers on July 19, 1958. Together
they had six children: Douglas (Audrey),
Denise (Curtis), Anthony (Susan), Terrance
(Chris) Christopher (Karen), Kevin (Lexie),
planted 20,000 Christmas trees. After the
trees were harvested, they planted a 40 acre
grape vineyard. When the grapes started
producing, they built and started Airlie
Winery. Larry also served on the Board of
the Oregon Winegrowers Association.
Larry was not afraid to take chances, he
enjoyed challenges, and worked hard to be
successful. Larry would lend you a hand
without being asked, was honest and had a
high level of integrity. He could also build,
repair, paint, modify and fi x just about
anything. For example, when he needed
a rain cover canopy for his sporting clays
shooting golf cart, rather than buy it, he
purchased a sewing machine and made it
himself.
Larry loved to hunt pheasants and quail in
Kansas, chukars and elk in eastern Oregon,
and target shooting at his local gun clubs.
He also built and raced micro midgets, dune
buggies, and fl ew model airplanes. Larry will
be greatly missed. In honor of Larry, there
will be a gathering of family and friends at
Airlie Winery on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
as well as 13 grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
Rosalie loved the family Hop farm,
and as the kids got older she took over
administrative and payroll duties while still
fi nding the time to start and take over other
businesses along the way, including Fancy
Fibers and, from her father, Kerr Supply Co.
Rosalie loved horses and was the leader
of the Keizerettes & Kings 4H Club for many
years. Countless blue ribbons were won
under her tutelage and encouragement.
Rosalie and Don spent many a wedding
anniversary at the Fairgrounds attending
horse shows.
Rosalie and Don were members of
several clubs throughout their lives, from
The Terrace Club in the 60s to International
Flying Farmers. Rosalie was also a
member of the “Chicken Little Club”—the
association of wives who fl ew with their
husbands. As part of her devout Catholic
faith, she participated in church choirs,
the altar society, and many other affi nity
groups. Don and Rosalie loved to travel
when they could, including trips to New
Zealand, Australia, China and Mexico. She
also made a trip to Russia with her sister
Charlene.
She was preceded in death by her
Parents, her brother Roger† and her sister
Charlene† (Carl†). Other close family
mourning her loss are Roger’s wife Lynne
Kerr, and in-laws Bud Herberger (Pat†) and
Emily Weathers (Harley†).
Towards the end of her life, Rosalie
battled Alzheimer’s, with Don by her side
every step of the way. Although Dementia
stole her mind and COVID took her body,
her heart will always be with us.
Services for Rosalie will be held at
Saint Edwards Catholic Church in Keizer
on Friday Feb. 11th, 2022. Recitation of the
rosary will begin at 1:00 pm followed by
mass of Christian burial at 1:30 pm.
Donations may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association in memory of
Rosalie Weathers.

His family soon moved to a farm near
Liberal, Kan. He graduated from Liberal
High School in 1956 and four years later
married Alice. Larry proudly served in the
National Guard.
After graduating from high school,
Larry worked as a fabrication welder and
also worked in the oil fi elds while farming
with his father. Larry and Alice started
their own farm in 1967 and raised irrigated
alfalfa, wheat, milo and cattle. He also had a
trucking business hauling cattle and grain.
In 1977 Larry and Alice made the decision
to move to the Pacifi c Northwest and raise
their family in Philomath. This was risky
because Larry was not sure what he would
do in Oregon, but within a few months he
purchased a small excavation business and
was off and running. Still a farmer at heart,
they purchased land near Airlie, Oregon and
