McNary's comeback attempt falls just short
The McNary girls’ basketball team
was able to erase a 17-point deficit, but
in the end, the Celtics couldn’t com-
plete the task, falling to McMinnville
36-33 on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Ava Rubio and KJ Custer were the
leading scorers for the Celtics with
nine points apiece.
Custer tied the game at 33 with a
bucket with less than a minute remain-
ing, but McMinnville’s Rylie McManus
knocked down the go-ahead 3-pointer
with 8.9 seconds left to put the Grizzlies
ahead for good.
The loss drops McNary's record to
1-8.
The Celtics return home for their
final non-league contest against Canby
at 7 p.m. They will open up their
Mountain Valley Conference slate
by hosting Summit at 6:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, Jan. 11.
