residential fi re

Just after noon on Wednesday, Nov. 24, Keizer Fire District was notifi ed of a
"smoke in a structure" incident in the 400 block of Cummings LN N. by Willamette
Valley Communications Center 911.
First arriving crews confi rmed a structure fi re in a detached in-law suite. Fire crews
initiated fi re attack and searched the structure and confi rmed there were no occu-
pants. Crews brought the fi re under control within 15 minutes.
Damage to the building and contents is estimated at $50,000. One adult was dis-
placed as a result of the fi re. There were no injuries as a result of the fi re. Keizer Fire
District responded with one battalion chief vehicle, one medic unit, two fi re engines,
and one fi re marshal vehicle, with a total of 11 people on the scene.
The cause of the fi re appears to have started from a wood-burning stove.
The Keizer Fire District would like to remind residents to properly maintain
wood-burning stoves and have their chimneys cleaned.
