scored seven goals on the year and tied
for first on the team with eight assists.
“Jorge was reliable playing on the
wing, he was our leader with assists, and
besides that he scored seven goals for us,
his knowledge and awareness helped us
to score a lot of goals this season with his
crosses and assists,” Camarena said.
Sophomore defender Tony Bravo also
was on the honorable mention list. Bravo
had three assists from his center back
position and helped the Celtics defense
hold opponents to one goal or less on
seven occasions.
“Tony was our consistent center back
this season. As sophomore he had the
responsibility to manage our defend-
ers. He did a fantastic job. In so many
ways and games he kept us on the race
to win games. As a defender sometimes
they don’t get the credit they deserve,
I’m glad to see this happen to him. I’m
excited to see what he can bring next
year in his junior year,” Camarena said.

Posey retires after 12
season with Giants
Longtime San Francisco Giant and former Volcanoes catcher Buster Posey announced
his retirement from Major League Baseball (MLB)on Thursday, Nov. 4.
Posey played in the majors for 12 seasons (all with the Giants) and is one of the most
accomplished catchers of the 21st century.
He has won four Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove to go along with his three World
Series titles (2010, 2012 and 2014). Posey was also the Rookie of the Year in 2010 and the
National League MVP in 2012. He retires with a lifetime slash line of .302/.372/.460 and
appeared in seven All-Star Games.
Posey was named the #1 Volcanoes player of all time by the Keizertimes earlier this
year.
“Buster Posey was a true professional on and off the field. He is worthy of many incred-
ible accolades. Buster is someone we as an organization, and community, should feel abso-
lutely honored to have played for the Volcanoes,” said Mavericks League CEO Mickey
Walker. “He is one of the true greats to come through Volcanoes organization to go on
to do great things in the MLB. Along with Tim Lincecum, Sergio Romo, Pablo Sandoval,
Brandon Crawford, Ryan Voglesong, Posey was a core piece to the Giants three World
Series wins. It will always be special to know his first professional baseball card came here
in Keizer. And that we had the pleasure of watching and hosting one of the true greatest
baseball players to ever play.”
Former Salem-Keizer Volcanoes catcher Buster Posey won three World Series rings with the
Giants.
