Former Volcano makes
history in World Series
Former Salem-Keizer Volcano outfi elder Adam Duvall concluded one of the best
seasons of his career by helping the Atlanta Braves defeat the Houston Astros in six
games to clinch the 2021 World Series title on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
After hitting 38 homers in the regular season, Duvall started the series with a two-
run homer in Game 1, giving the Braves the 6-2 victory.
In Game 5, Duvall became the fi rst player since 1960 to hit a grand slam in the fi rst
inning of a World Series game. He also recored a hit in fi ve of the six games in the
series.
Duvall was named the #10 greatest Volcanoes player of all time by the Keizertimes
last year.
Duvall, along with reserve infi elder Ehire Adrianza — who didn't record a hit in two
at-bats during the series become the 15th and 16th former Volcanoes players to win a
World Series ring.
