On Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 9:44
a.m., weighing 8 lbs. 1 oz. and being 20
inches long, you blessed parents Tony
Timothy Nichols and Marisol Lopez
Ortiz with your life.

you gained a spot up in heaven next to

The loss of Elias has been deeply
felt in our hearts, as he was fortunate
enough to touch so many lives.
Although we longed to be with you, we
were unable to fulfi ll the hope to see you
grow up. We will always cherish the time
and moments we had with you. We will
always carry you in our hearts. We will
love you forever, my sweet angel, Elias.

Where and how
do you volunteer?
"I volunteer for The Pride Foundation,
Keizer Public Arts Commission,
Cherriots Citizen Advisory Board,
Cummings Elementary PTA, and
a local dance program. I knock on
doors and phone-bank to get out the
vote, and participate in community-
based mutual aid opportunities that
come up each year — from helping
neighbors to delivering holiday gift
baskets."

Why do you volunteer?
"I enjoy volunteering quietly in the
background, with a willingness
to take the lead when needed. I
generally prefer it when folks are
unaware that I’ve even done anything.
I believe we have a responsibility for
each other, and volunteering gives
me a sense of purpose and tethers me
to my community."

How would you get
others to volunteer
in their community?
"Where we choose to invest our
time and talent is so very personal
and speaks to our deeply held
beliefs and values. It must come
from a place of interest, ability,
capacity, and good spirit. Find out
what works for you and then own
it - you won’t regret it!"

"It’s 100% a mental health boost — and
sometimes good exercise! I love the
synergy that comes from working with
others, and I always feel connected
to people and the community I care
about. It’s a win-win, always."
