Just four games into the year, the
McNary girls’ soccer squad looks to be
on the verge of having a breakout season.
Junior forward Sydnee Alfano scored
the lone goal of the contest in the second
minute as McNary defeated Franklin 1-0
on Thursday night for their third straight
victory.
It's the Celtics longest winning streak
since 2018.
“It is a huge win for us. Their confi-
dence is way higher than it was after our
first game. This is probably the most
coachable team I have ever worked with,”
McNary head coach Lauren Brouse said.
With the victory, the Celtics have
already surpassed their win total from
last season.
“I am really happy that we have kept
the winning streak alive,” Alfano said.
“There were a couple times we could
have fallen apart, but we stuck it through
to the very last second.”
It didn't take long for McNary to go
into attack mode as the Celtics got their
first shot-on-goal 30 seconds into the
game. In the second minute, Alfano,
who led the Celtics in scoring last sea-
son, found the back of the net to give her
team the early lead.
After gaining possession in the mid-
field, Tessa Fisher sent a through ball up
the right sideline to a cutting Yasheth
