POST,
Continued from page A1
committed to serving only two terms
but has ended up serving four terms.
He told the Keizertimes in an inter-
view that he’s always believed legisla-
tors should have “self-imposed” term
limits and when their time is up, they
should let the next citizen step up.
“This isn’t supposed to be some
career life-long thing. That’s why I’ve
never been for raising our pay. As bad
as our pay is, it’s not supposed to be
a career,” said Post. “Now, it’s time for
somebody else to step up.”
Post said he initially planned on
stepping down after his third term but
was convinced to stick around until
2022. The past 18 months, Post said,
have been harder than any other term.
“The last 18 months have been 24
hours per day, seven days a week, 365
days a year. It’s been overwhelming,”
Post said. “My doctor literally said your
job is killing you.”
Post will continue to serve the
BUSINESS
AND
district until the end of 2022 and said he
looks forward to completing the redis-
tricting process. Post said he thinks the
district will look very diff erent by the
end of redistricting and hopes whoever
is chosen in 2022 to represent District
25 fi ts the district.
Post is currently the assistant deputy
leader in the House Republican Caucus
and serves on fi ve diff erent House
Committees. One of the Post’s biggest
accomplishments during his time was
securing $800,000 in funding for the
City of Keizer.
Post’s time in Oregon legislation
Services
will offi cially be fi nished when the next
representative is sworn-in sometime in
January 2023.
