Confl icting reports surround
A
COVID outbreak at
senior community
n assisted living facility in Keizer with a staff
vaccination rate of 34% is currently dealing
with one of the largest active COVID outbreaks
among all Oregon long-term care facilities.
Family members and staff described in inter-
views with the Keizertimes a situation that may be
even worse than offi cials are reporting.
On Sept. 1, the Oregon Health Authority reported
that an outbreak that began Aug. 23 at Bonaventure
of Keizer Assisted
Living and Memory
Vaccination Percentage of
Care had infected
fi ve people. On Sept.
Bonaventure at Keizer Station
9, the outbreak had
spread to 24 people
and one resident
had died.

On Sept. 8, Kelly

call from her grand-
mother telling her that she had a fever. Kelly was
surprised, since she was supposed to be informed if
her grandmother was ever sick.

Local state rep done after 2022

State Rep. Bill Post announced Sept. 9
that he would not seek re-election in 2022
in the Oregon House of Representatives.
“I still feel there is much work to be
done at the legislature, so it is with mixed
emotions that I make this announce-
ment,” Post said in the press release.
“I am very grateful for the support I’ve
received from the community and the
relationships that have been built while
serving Keizer, St. Paul and Newberg.”
Post, a Republican, represents House
District 25, which includes Keizer, St.
Paul and Newberg.
Post chose to run for state represen-
tative in 2014 after being challenged on
his talk show by another state represen-
tative. Elected in 2015, he was initially
