COVID surges in Keizer as National
Guard is called to Salem Health
JOEY CAPPELLETTI
Of the Keizertimes
Marion County has continued to have
some of the highest COVID case counts
in all of Oregon — and Keizer has contrib-
uted to the number substantially.
In a two-week period ending Aug. 24,
Keizer had the second-most COVID cases
of all 22 Marion County zip codes. Keizer’s
302 reported cases during that two-week
period trailed only central Salem’s 427
positive cases.
During the two-week period of July
27 to Aug. 9, Keizer had the most COVID
cases of any zip code with 146.
Marion County, Oregon’s fi fth-most
populated county, has continued to be hit
hard by the virus and has the second-high-
est case count of all Oregon counties. The
county’s seven-day daily average was 201,
which was the third-highest for the week
ending Aug. 30.
