Other health protocols, such as requiring physical distancing, remain up to indi- vidual districts as school resumes in the fall. Oregon schools that fail to enforce mask-wearing rules for employees and students could be fi ned up to $500 per day, the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority said Tuesday, Aug. 3. Teachers could also face penal- ties for working umasked, the agency said, though it did not detail specifi c sanctions. The mask rule goes into eff ect on Thursday, Aug. 12.
