Rodny Rodriguez went 4-for-5 on the night and Riley Newman was the winning pitcher for the Mavericks, going eight innings and giving up three earned runs. Both teams put up a four-spot in the second inning, but the Mavericks broke ahead in the bottom of the fourth on consecutive RBI-singles by Alex Emerson and Matt Holiday to take a 6-4 lead. An RBI-single from JaVon Logan got the Senators within one in the top of the fi fth, but the Mavericks responded with a pair of unearned runs in the bot- tom half of the frame to put the game out of reach.
