despite missing vaccine goal

goal of having 70 percent of residents
with at least one vaccination dose.
“I’m proud of our collective eff orts
to vaccinate more than 2.3 million
Oregonians. It is because of this success
that we can move Oregon forward, and
into the next chapter of this pandemic.
We are ready,” said Brown in a press
release.
As a result of the changes, there is
now no restriction on the number of
people allowed in schools, restaurants,
movie theaters, gyms, churches and busi-
nesses. Statewide, public buildings will
be opened for business, but masks will
still be required in health care settings,
airports, for air travel and on public trans-
port to comply with federal guidelines.
Local school boards will still get to
decide whether or not to require masks
when classes resume in the fall.
Oregon still needed about 20,000
residents to achieve the 70% vaccination
rate, but state authorities expect it to
happen shortly after the July 4 holiday.
In Marion County, only 60% of residents
have received at least the fi rst dose of a
COVIC-19 vaccination.
Every resident of the state 12 and
older is eligible for the COVID-19 vac-
cine. More information about the vaccine
and where to get the shot is available at:
