Celt CTEC grads head into workforce
Seven McNary seniors were recog-
nized for their decisions to enter the
workforce in the industry they have stud-
ied at Career Training Education Center
(CTEC) in a signing day ceremony on
Wednesday, June 2.
“What you guys are doing is really
important and it should be acknowl-
edged and valued. We are so proud of
you,” McNary principal Erik Jespersen
said.
Listed below are the seven students
that will be entering the workforce, the
companies they will work for, and the
CTEC programs they graduated from.
Colby Brooks: Elite Auto Glass
(Auto Body and Repair Painting); Jose
Martinez Reyes: Hyacinth Collision
Centre (Auto Body Repair and Painting);
Micah Summerfelt: Hill Brothers
Machine Corporation (Manufacturing,
Welding and Engineering); Spencer
Schauer: Southtown Glass (Residential
Construction); Marcos Tornez: MDR
Construction (Residential Construction);
Jaime Flores Barajas: Hard Core

The school is planning on making
this an annual tradition.
“I know that the community we live in
and the city of Keizer will be better for
the future because of young profession-
als like you,” CTEC principal Rhonda
Rhodes said.
Starting in the fall, all schools in the
Salem-Keizer School District will have
new bell schedules. In addition to the new
schedule, all students will start an hour
late on Wednesdays due to staff meetings.
McNary High School and a few of
the other high schools will start at 8:30
a.m. and release at 3:20 p.m., except for
Wednesdays which will begin at 9:30 a.m.
"We believe that the new bell schedule
will better serve the needs of students
across the district and lead to improved
outcomes at all levels. We are engaging
our parents and families on any unin-
tended barriers around these changes
and will work to fi nd solutions,” said SKPS
Superintendent Christy Perry.
Families are encouraged to talk to their
student’s school about any questions they
may have related to the new bell sched-
ule. A list of the all new schedules can be
found on Salem-Keizer district website:
