Shaylee Custer retrieved the ball in
left center field and fired it to Ronning
at shortstop, who then threw a frozen
rope down to catcher Heather Ebner at
the plate. Ebner applied the tag for the
out, ending the game.
“(Custer) did a really good job of
getting it in as fast as possible and
my team did a good job of being loud
and telling me where to line myself up.
I didn't have a struggle turning and
throwing. I just trusted what they were
saying and didn't have to look before I
threw,” Ronning said.
Despite the 10-run victory, the
Celtics still aren't satisfied with their
level of play and look to show contin-
uous improvement as the season goes
on.
“There are things we can still
improve on. We didn't have our best
game, so we have things to work on,”
Ronning said.
Day signs with Linfield
After an excellent career at Blanchet
High School, senior linebacker Logan
Day will be continuing his education and
football career at Linfield University. He
officially signed with the Wildcats on
Monday, May 3.
Day was a first-team all-league line-
backer as a junior in 2019 and was voted
most outstanding running back on the
team during the spring season after rush-
ing for 660 yards and seven touchdowns

“I am very excited for the opportu-
nity to continue my football career at
Linfield University, one of the best col-
lege football programs in the country.  I
am excited to get to work and be a part of
Linfield’s 64 straight winning seasons,”
Day said. “I want to thank everyone who
has supported me over the years, includ-
ing my coaches and the Keizer commu-
nity.  I am proud to call Keizer my home.”
