Unfinished learning leads to district intervention
Due to the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pan-
demic, Salem-Keizer Public Schools
(SKPS) students have unfinished learn-
ing. The district will utilize current MTSS
structures and systems to identify students
and to match appropriate interventions to
ensure every student receives the right
instruction at the right time. Because
ensuring student learning towards state
standards is the basic function of our
schools and school staff, as is intervening
when students are notmaking expected
MPFS donation will clear
up Salem library fines
If you happened to check out a book
from the Salem Public Library last
March and – for some reason – still have
it laying around, you'll be able to turn it
in next month for food instead of fees.
The library's Food for Fines returns
for its second year of its no-contact vir-
tual program, still benefiting Marion-
Polk Food Share, Salem Public Library,
and the community.
For every $1 donated to Marion Polk
Food Share, Salem Public Library will
reduce library fines by $5. The program
applies to overdue fines only.
Patrons can take part in a few easy
steps:
• Visit Marion Polk Food Share's Food
for Fines webpage and make a donation.
• Forward the email confirmation to

• Include the library barcode num-
ber(s) for the account(s) to which the
library s hould apply the fine forgiveness.
• Receive a confirmation email from
Salem Public Library detailing fines
forgiven.
Overdue fine issues can be accessed
in advance by logging into library
accounts online or with the help of library
staff at SPLcirc@cityofsalem.net or 503-
588-6315. All items returned through our
Curbside Service are checked in, free
of overdue fines. Even if items you are
returning have "overdue" or "lost" sta-
tus, the charges will be eliminated when
checked in through Curbside Service at
Salem Public Library at Broadway.

• SEL and Attendance Support
(e.g., Knock and Connect, Counseling)
(Elementary, Middle, High)
• Technology Supports and Curriculum

Design next T-shirt
for WillaMutt Strut
The Willamette Humane Society (WHS) launched a T-shirt design con-
test for the group’s annual WillaMutt Strut, which will be virtual on June 6.
Between now and May 5, artists can create a design and submit it to the
WHS team at events@whs4pets.org with the subject line “WillaMutt Strut
T-shirt Contest Entry.” The winner will be announced May 10.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the WillaMutt Strut, Willamette
Humane Society’s annual fun run and dog party. This event is also WHS’s
second-largest fundraising event of the year. The special black T-shirt will
be provided to participants, and the winning design will be printed in silver
on the front of the garment.
Artists should submit a high-res (300 dpi) PDF, JPEG, or Adobe Illustrator
file. Hand-drawn entries will not be accepted. No compensation (aside from
bragging rights and five T shirts) will be provided.
In addition to a special T-shirt, WillaMutt Strut plans include My Dog
will Eat That and My Cat will Eat That contests. Ticketed participants can
also submit a snap of their mixed-breed pup for a chance to win the 2022
WillaMutt crown. And ticketed participants will have the opportunity to
attend a virtual part also slated on June 6.
Tickets for the WillaMutt Strut are on sale at humanehero.whs4pets.org.
