Robert ‘Bob’
Lawrence Smith
Shirlie-Anne Shelton
May 20, 1959 – March 28, 2021
April 9, 1935 – March 18, 2021
Bob was born in Alhambra, Calif. on
April 9, 1935. He grew up in Arcadia
and later the family moved to Medford.
Following high school in Medford, Bob
attended Oregon State University and
worked for the Department of Forestry.
He later served four years in the U.S. Air
Force and, while stationed in England, he
met his future wife Christine. They were
married in 1957 in Datchet, Berkshire.
During his career, Bob worked four
years for London County Council with
adoptions. They later returned to live in
Keizer, and by this time they had three
children. Bob became a counselor at
MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility
in Woodburn. After earning his master’s
degree from OCE, Bob taught Social
Studies at South Salem High School
and later at North Salem High School.
He was active in his community as head
of the Cub Scout program and President
of AFS at McNary High School.
His interests were fi shing, gardening,
reading, watching sports and traveling.
Bob is survived by his wife Christine,

two daughters, Karen and Debbie, a
son David, two sisters Mary Ellen and
Linda, four grandchildren and fi ve
great-grandchildren.
Bob will be laid to rest at Willamette
National Cemetery.
In lieu of fl owers, the family is
requesting donations to St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital.
Many thanks to the team at Brighton
Hospice for the loving care they gave
Bob.

Memorial Park.

Shirlie-Anne Shelton, 61, of Keizer
passed away on March 28 at her home.
Shirlie-Anne was born in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada, to Harry and Anna
(Morris) McLuskie. She grew up in Canada
and California and graduated from high
school in Simi Valley in 1977. After gradua-
tion, the family moved to Oregon. On May
5, 1989 she married Todd Shelton.
Shirlie worked for Hewlett-Packard
for several years; Selmet where she was
an X-ray technician; and then owned and
operated Curves in Keizer.
Shirlie loved the beach, dancing, camp-
ing, hiking, kayaking, reading, and spend-
ing time with her family,
Shirlie-Anne is survived by husband
Todd Shelton; daughter Kylee Shelton;
step-son Brandon Shelton; parents Harry
and Anna McLuskie of Albany; brothers
Grant and Dorie McLuskie of Tumalo and
Fraser McLuskie of Bend; sister Amy and
Mike Snow of Gresham; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 1 pm
on Monday, April 5 at AAsum-Dufour
Funeral Home. A gathering of family and
