PAGE A2, KEIZERTIMES, JANUARY 15, 2021 Vaccine eligibility opens up to those 65 and older Following updated guidance from the Cen- ters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Gov. Kate Brown announced that Oregon will be expanding COVID-19 vaccination to in- clude all individuals age 65 and older. In addition, the federal government an- nounced it would be releasing its full reserve of vaccines available to states, rather than holding some doses in storage. Vaccination of Oregon seniors––as well as child care providers and ear- ly learning and K-12 educators and staff––will start on January 23, when additional vaccine shipments are expected to begin arriving from the federal government. “While this is an unexpected change in course from the federal government, receiving more vaccines is welcome news for states — and Oregon is ready to devote all resources neces- sary to ramp up distribution with our health care partners,” said Governor Brown. “The Ore- gon Health Authority and the Oregon National Guard have already begun working with hospi- tals, pharmacies, and local public health partners to ensure Oregon seniors and educators have ready access to a vaccine. We will be detailing plans on Friday for the rapid deployment of vac- cines to health care providers and mass vaccina- tion sites across Oregon. Brown said Oregon residents should not yet call their physicians to fi nd out when a dose will be available for them. “Now, more than ever, I am determined to ensure that communities that have been dis- proportionately impacted by COVID-19 have access to a vaccine: Oregon’s Black, Indigenous, tribal, Latino, Latina, and Latinx, Pacifi c Islander, and communities of color. Reaching educators and individuals aged 65 and older from these communities is absolutely critical, as we strive to achieve equitable vaccine distribution in each SUNDAY, JAN. 3 1:45 a.m. - Warrant requested for violation of release agreement in the 700 block of Bever Drive NE. 4 a.m. - Motor vehicle theft in the 600 block of Burgundy Ave- nue NE. 11:30 a.m. - Arrest for strangu- lation in the 4000 block of 19th Place NE. 12:19 p.m. - Physical harassment in the 1000 block of Trent Ave- nue N. 1:37 p.m. - Criminal trespassing in the 900 block of Cloverleaf Lane NE. 10:44 p.m. - Arrest for stalking order violation in the 4000 block of Harcourt Avenue NE.
