Crenshaw honored for long service
Trish Crenshaw, a city vol-
unteer for more than 13 years,
was honored by the Keizer
City Council as the Volunteer
of the Quarter Monday, Dec.
7.
Crenshaw is an appointed
member of the city’s Volun-
teer Coordinating Commit-
tee, but is also the longest
serving member having been
fi rst appoint-
ed by former
city councilors

Selma Pierce fund
In response to her death, the United Way of the Mid- Willa-
mette Valley has created the Selma Pierce Fund.
The fund – established as a donor advised fund – is a vehicle
for granting sustainable fi nancial support to nonprofi t chari-
ties. The Pierce family will
serve as advisors in the use
of the funds. The United
Way Board has approved
$10,000 to seed the start of
the fund.
“It is an honor to sustain
Selma’s legacy by creating an opportunity to invest in build-
ing innovative solutions that create lasting impact,” said Rhonda
Wolf, CEO of the United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley.

mittee interviews and recom-
mends appointments to other
city-backed committees and
task forces. It has also honed
and revised the volunteer pro-
cess over the years. During
her time on the committee,
Crenshaw has attended 78 of
the monthly meetings, rec-
ommended 288 candidates for
city service and nominated 44
other volunteer of the quarter
nominees.
She was nominated by
Mayor Cathy Clark and Free-
man.
Councilor Dan Kohler said
he knew Crenshaw long be-
fore he got into public service
himself.
“I got to know her through
her involvement in Boy
Scouts,” Kohler said. “She was
always doing everything she
could to make things happen.”
Councilor Roland Herrera
said Crenshaw was instrumen-
tal in upgrading Country Glen
Park when she was a member
of the Parks Advisory Board.
“Her work ethic is one to
be admired,” Herrera said.

Quilt Guild takes cues
from very weird year
The Mid-Valley Quilt
Guild’s annual display at the
Keizer Civic Center is most
defi nitely a refl ection of the
times.
In addition to the usual
line-up of birds and land-
scapes, elements of safety
guideline, quarantine and even
a COVID-19 molecule all
found their way into this year’s
Quilts at Keizer show.
The quilts are on display
for viewing in the hallways
of the Keizer Civic Center
during normal business hours.
