(6.1 per game), Grimmer
also proved to have a huge
impact with her interior de-
fensive ability. She lead the
team in blocks and was sec-
ond in steals.
“Bekah has really grown
as a player over the past year.
She is a strong and tough
inside presence for us. She
started every game for us and
led the team in rebounds and
in total points scored. Her
ability to defend bigs made
it so she barely came off the
fl oor,” Doran said.
For the second straight
season, Kennedy Buss was
named as a honorable men-
tion performer.
As McNary’s top on-ball
defender, Buss led the team
in steals and was second in
rebounding.
Similar to Grimmer, Buss
Grimmer
saw a major uptick in scor-
ing this season.
After averaging less than 2
ppg last season, Buss saw her
average increase to over 5.5
ppg this season. She was also
second on the team in three-
point fi eld goals and assists.
“Kennedy goes after ev-
ery 50/50 ball harder than
anyone else on the fl oor. She
also was a consistent outside
shooting presence for us this
year and was second in assists
per game,” Doran said.
Shooting guard Kenzie
Proctor also picked up a
honorable mention nod.
Despite
missing
fi ve
games due to injury, Proctor
had the third best scoring av-
erage for the Celtics at near-
ly 7 ppg. She also shot over
88 percent from the foul line,
which led the team — mini-
mum seven attempts.
Each of McNary’s all-
league players are juniors and
are expected to return to the
squad next season.

hoped to do. It was a differ-
ent speed than what we were
used to.”
O’Connor briefl y stopped
the bleeding with a jump-
hook and Junior Nunez
soon followed with a mid-
range jumper. But McNary
still couldn’t slow down the
West Linn attack as the Li-
ons built their lead to 50-31
at half. They extended their
advantage to 73-42 and the
end of three quarters.
“What we have to learn is
that when things go bad, we
still need to stay consistent in
our approach,” Kirch said.
Despite the defeat, Kirch
was able to refl ect how much
improvement this McNary
team made over the course
of the year.
“Obviously, it’s disap-
pointing to lose and be done
because this group of people
won’t be in the same room
together ever again. We ac-
complished a lot from the
wins and losses standpoint,
but even more than that, the
growth we saw from our
players and the amount of
fun we had together, that’s
what I’ll take away the most.
From where we started last
summer to where we are
now, there was tremendous
growth and it was just a re-
ally good season,” Kirch said.
Kirch also commented
on the potential that next
year’s team could have with
returning 12 guys to their
roster.
“We’re excited, but we
still have a lot of work to
do. We have to understand
this there is different level
of mental focus when you’re
playing teams of this caliber.
But we see a lot of potential
and it will be exciting to see
who steps up to meet that
challenge,” Kirch said.
