Brouse taking over Celts
girls soccer program
On Tuesday, Feb. 5, Mc-
Nary High announced the
hiring of Lauren Brouse as
the new head coach of the
girls soccer program. She will
be taking over for A.J. Nash,
who was the head coach for
the past fi ve seasons.
Brouse has served as an as-
sistant coach for the Celtics
for the past two seasons. In
addition to coaching soccer,
Brouse is an English teacher,
an assistant track coach and
junior class advisor.
Brouse is a McNary alum
and played for the Celtics
girls soccer program from
2008 to 2011. She is the lead-
ing scorer in program history
with 41 goals and 41 assists.
Brouse was also named to
the all-conference team three
times and was on the States-
man Journal's all-region team
twice.
Brouse went onto to Col-
orado Mesa University where
she competed in soccer and
track. She was a defensive
standout for the girls soccer
team and started every game
from her sophomore year on.
“(Brouse) will continue

She is going to bring back the
extra competitiveness to the
McNary girls program that
she naturally had as a play-
er, as well as improving each
of her players tactically and
technically that will take Mc-
Nary girls soccer to the next
level,” said Miguel Camarena,
Brouse's former high school
coach and current McNary
boys soccer coach.
“Brouse has the experi-
ence on and off the fi eld nec-
essary to be a successful head
coach. Lauren is a McNary
alum with an impressive high
school career and successful
career at Colorado Mesa. Her
disciplined and aggressive
mentality will certainly help
fulfi ll the mission of compet-
ing at the highest level,” add-
ed Nash.

Varsity Girls Swimming
Bella Beard became the fi rst female swimmer
for McNary to qualify for the state meet since
2016.
She took third in the 100-yard breaststroke at
the Mountain Valley Conference District Meet,
fi nishing with a time of 1:09.52.
Beard swam a personal best at the state meet
on Friday, Feb. 21. Her time of 1:09.33 was good
enough for 15th place.
