Salem-Keizer School
District plans suicide
prevention trainings
On Wednesday, Feb. 12,
Salem-Keizer Public Schools
(SKPS) will be hosting
a free suicide prevention
training, Question, Persuade
and Refer (QPR) session
at Claggett Creek Middle
School,1810 Alder Dr. N.E.

and March, Salem Health

to provide QPR training, a
simple process that anyone

be trained to use to help save
the life of a person who is in
crisis.
During each training
session, attendees will learn:
myths and facts about
suicide, how to recognize
signs someone may be
thinking about suicide, how
to ask questions to assess the
situation, how to persuade
the person to stay alive
long enough to get help
and how to refer them to a
professional for help to get
them through the crisis and
treat any underlying mental
illness.
Events will be held in
English or Spanish and free
dinner and childcare will be
provided, with the exception
of the student session on
March 3. Due to the format
of the training, translation
services will not be offered.

In late December, T4 Tea
House opened its third Or-
egon location in Keizer Sta-
tion, 6395 Keizer Station Blvd.
#104, between Kay Jewelers
and Massage Envy.
T4 is a franchise location
of the Taiwan-based company
T4清茶達人, which opened
in Taiwan in 2004. According
to their website the name, T4,
comes from the greeting, “a
cup of tea for you.” The com-
pany’s goal is to bring Taiwan-
ese tea and street food to cus-
tomers world wide.
“We wanted to share the
philosophy of connecting in-
dividuals through a cup of tea
with the Oregon community,”
said co-owners Dicky Chan
and Michelle Wong.
They choose Keizer as their
second Oregon location be-
cause of its access to I-5.
“We are able to serve cus-
tomers from northbound
Woodburn to southbound
Salem making Keizer an ideal
location,” Chan said.
Chan and Wong also own
the T4 in Clackamas, but not
the T4 Beaverton store.
The tea house offers various
drinks – mango royal tea, taro
milkshake and thai milk tea are
some of the best sellers Chan
mentioned. Snack offerings
range from potstickers to deep
fried squid and egg-puffs.
