Salem coffee shop
hosts Potter party
Harry Potter Party is planned at Archive Coffee &
Bar on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 7 a.m. to midnight. This
is the third year of the party, which is themed after The
Prisoner of Azkaban.
Minors are encouraged to attend before 4 p.m. There
will be a $5 cover fee after 8 p.m. Archive is located at
201 Liberty St. N.E. Ste 120 in Salem.

Keizer library hosting Holocaust Salem
library
Days of Remembrance display moves to
The Keizer Community Li-
brary is participating in the na-
tionwide effort to honor vic-
tims of the Holocaust and Nazi
persecution by presenting a
Days of Remembrance display
at the Library and the Keizer
Cultural Center through early
February, 2020.
The commemoration will
include Holocaust victim and
survivor profi les, education-
al posters, and a booklist and
display of books about the
Holocaust. The library is also
displaying a series of World
War I posters. The posters are
gifts from the Smithsonian In-
stitution of Traveling Exhibi-
tion Service and the National
Museum of American History,
a beyond-the-textbook look at
the war and its aftermath.
The Holocaust was the
state-sponsored,
systematic
persecution and annihilation
of European Jewry by Nazi
Germany and its collaborators
between 1933 and 1945. Al-
though Jews were the primary
victims, others among the six
million people who were mur-
dered included: Roma and Sin-
ti (Gypsies) people with mental
and physical disabilities; Poles
who were targeted for destruc-
tion or decimation for racial,
ethnic, or national reasons; ho-

Salem Public Library location
will close for construction and
seismic upgrades. The library,
library parkade, and Peace
Plaza will all be closed during
construction and used for
sorting and staging the project.
A new temporary location
will be opened at 1400 Broad-
way Street N.E. on Tuesday,
Feb. 18.
The West Salem Branch
will be open and maintain
services throughout the move
and construction phases.
The library is set to reopen
in the summer of 2021.
